On June 18th, 3 town councilors, Mr. Welch, Ms. Waxman and Mr. Maloney continued their 8+ year opposition to the Rolling Greens development; they played to a small group of loud, special-interest NIMBY’s in the audience and voted against an agreement negotiated by a federal judge between all the parties to the Rolling Greens development. Rolling Greens is a successful idea being implemented in many surrounding towns to build nice housing for 55 year olds (in this case on a beautiful, 9 hole golf course) so that they can stay here and not have to move to more affordable places.
Wake up voters; we need the elderly to stay in NK to supplement the school tax if for no other reason!
These are the same 3 negativists who opposed the new Tarbox Hyundai dealership on Route 2 next to the already successful Tarbox Toyota dealership. These are beautiful-looking businesses that represent the power of the free-market and have transformed a dormant part of our town into a growing jobs-generating area.
These 3 council members have now sent our town into a financial tailspin that will result in NK losing a law suit for upwards of $10 million. That money will come from the town’s financial reserve, currently at $8 million. Our financial reserve establishes our borrowing rate of interest and allows NK to float bonds for short interest. With this one vote these 3 have savaged our ability to borrow money and sent our financial rating downward. Nice going Mr. Welch, Ms. Waxman and Mr. Maloney; your shortsightedness is noted, again.
